Occupational health and safety management programs — SG-SST in Colombia — typically include periodic environmental measurements of lighting, noise, thermal comfort and air quality, carried out at a specific point in time by specialized personnel. That information is valuable, but it describes a single moment, not how the space behaves over time.
Thermal conditions and air quality
Temperature, relative humidity, CO₂ and, in some cases, particulate matter can be observed continuously in offices, warehouses or production areas. Seeing how these vary across the workday — not just at one point in it — helps surface patterns that a single measurement can't show.
Noise in the workplace
Continuous noise monitoring shows how levels vary by time of day, shift or area of the facility — information that complements the point-in-time studies required under an occupational health and safety management program.
From point-in-time data to historical information
A continuous monitoring system with dashboards and alerts does not replace the measurements or technical assessments required by current regulation. Its value is in providing ongoing visibility between those formal assessments, and flagging when an environmental condition moves outside what is expected.
This type of monitoring is complementary and does not replace the measurements or technical assessments required by current occupational health and safety regulation.
